Nellore: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana has directed the civic officials to complete road repairs and clearing of garbage in the city within five days. He reviewed sanitation in city with officials on Monday and said they were planning to make the city a model one in the State by replicating good practices and asked them to be attentive in maintaining sanitation.

The Minister said they planned to start all experimental programmes on a pilot basis from the city first and they would redo them in other parts of the State based on the results. Now, as part of the efforts, many developmental activities are going on in the city for some time and also introduced many others with a special focus by Municipal Administration department and Swachh Andhra Corporation.

He asked the contractors to complete patch works to all roads and sanitation works within next 5 days. He admitted that there is some dissatisfaction among city population on road works and sanitation and there is a responsibility to make them happy instantly.

Narayana said he would hereafter visit in the city from 10.30 am to 12 noon on daily basis for inspecting ongoing works. Pedda Bazaar, Gandhi Road, Vedayapalem Junction and many other places to be focused and asked senior officials to monitor the activities without fail. He instructed them to distribute small buckets to households and big ones to the business people for dumping waste.

The Minister also asked them to provide plastic covers for segregating wet and dry waste. He stated fruit vendors are dumping boxes used for transporting on roads and asked the officials to prevent such practices by educating them. District Collector R Mutyala Raju, Vice Chairman of Swachh Andhra Corporation Dr CL Venkata Rao, Commissioner Alim Basha and others were present.
