Tallapudi: District Collector Praveen Kumar has directed the officials of water resources department to complete ongoing irrigation projects at the earliest to fulfill water needs of farmers and people.He made a whirlwind visit of various projects on Wednesday. To begin with, he visited Tallapudi lift project and Chintalapudi lift project sites along with the engineers. Later, he toured Pattiseema lift project, delivery point and Polavaram project sites.
He informed that the government had taken up Chintalapudi project with an intention to supply water to dry lands in West Godavari and Krishna districts, apart from supply of drinking water. Godavari water will be supplied through two lifts. Besides Polavaram, Gopalapuram, Chintalapudi and Denduluru constituencies, 33 mandals of Nandigama, Mylavaram, Tiruvuru, Nuzivid, Gannavaram constituencies in Krishna district would be benefited by the project, he explained.
He further said that in the first phase of the project, 2,000 cusecs of water will be released through four pumps to irrigate two lakh acres of ayacut in the district.He directed the officials and contractors to speed up works to benefit the farmers.Pulichintala circle SE Ramesh Babu, Kovvur RDO Y Satyanarayana, engineers of water resources department and others accompanied him during his visit.
