Amaravati: As promised, the State government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu, published the Gazette notification allowing reservations for the Kapu community before the release of election schedule by the Election Commission of India. The State government has released the Gazette late night on Wednesday.

“The Andhra Pradesh Economically Weaker Sections of citizens (Reservation of Seats in Educational Institutions and of Appointments or Posts in the Public Services under the State for Kapus) Act, 2019 is published in the PA Gazette in English, Telugu and Urdu Languages as AP Act No. 14 of 2019”, informed Chief Minister’s Office.

The State government also published another Gazette for the reservations of other than Kapu community to allow them to use remaining five percent reservations out of the 10 per cent increased reservations. It is worth to mention here that the central government recently increased 10 per cent reservation to economically backwards in upper castes.

Out of this, the state government allocated five percent to the Kapu community. Now, the total percentage of reservations in the state is amounting to sixty for all categories including SCs, STs, BCs, Minorities, Kapus and others.
