Vijayawada: Matta Rama Rao assumed charge as the new Commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Rama Rao said that more importance will be given for keeping the city clean.
By keeping the city clean, the denizens can have good health for which they should feel the responsibility of keeping the city clean.
People should segregate dry and wet garbage before disposing to the garbage collector and support solid waste management for a complete recycling process, he added.
He recalled that when he was rendering his service at Bobbuli Municipality, with the collective effort of all the officers and staff they could secure first place in the state and were a role model to others.
He said that with the same team spirit he would try to keep VMC on top position in all aspects. For the upcoming elections, they would provide facilities like drinking water, toilets, ramps, help desk and others at all poling centres.
He thanked the government for giving the opportunity to serve the people of Vijayawada.
Later, mayor Koneru Sridhar met the Commissioner Rama Rao and greeted him with a bouquet. He discussed about the city development activities, financial situation and other aspects on the occasion.
