Hero MotoCorp put the Xtreme Sports on sale late last year although dealers are yet to receive the motorcycle. The more powerful version of the Xtreme produces 1 BHP more power, taking it to 15.2 BHP at 8500 RPM, among the most powerful in the segment. The earlier specs revealed no increase in torque output at 12.8 Nm at 6500 RPM but now Hero has updated its website and the brochure of the Xtreme Sports is available too, revealing the motorcycle’s same 149.2cc Honda sourced engine now generating 13.5 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM.
The increase in power and torque will surely boost performance. It has been more than a year since Hero first showcased the Xtreme Sports and yet deliveries of the bike haven’t commenced. The reasons for the delay are multiple, including the possibility of having an engine kill switch on the bike due to the position of the key slot.
Earlier reports suggest that the Xtreme Sports is priced at a Rs. 3000/- premium over the regular Xtreme but Hero hasn’t officially revealed the prices just yet. Simply having more power won’t really help the Xtreme Sports because it is the heaviest bike in the segment, weighing 146 kgs (147 kgs for the rear disc model).
Hero is offering the Xtreme Sports in 5 colours namely red, silver, orange, black and a dual tone black and red combo. Weirdly though, there is no white colour on offer although in an ad shoot, a white Xtreme Sports was seen (see image below). Hero is calling its most powerful 150cc offering as ‘The All New 15.2 BHP Xtreme Sports’. With power and torque being bumped up in this motorcycle, it remains to be seen if vibrations is an issue as seen on the updated Karizma twins which also offer more output from the same engine.
