Isuzu Motors India (IMI) will soon launch the MU- 7 SUV automatic in the country. Similar to the regular manual version, the Isuzu MU- 7 Automatic will be assembled locally at HMFCL (Hindustan Motor Finance Corp’s) Tiruvallur plant from the imported CKD kits.
Powering the MU-7 automatic will be the same 3.0-litre, four-cylinder intercooled engine that also does duty to the manual versions. This engine will be paired to an automatic transmission that will help the car deliver 163PS at 3,600rpm and 360Nm of torque between 1,800rpm – 2,800rpm. The rear-wheel drive system will also continue to be on offer.
The SUV will be loaded with several comfort and safety equipment such as 2-DIN touchscreen audio system with DVD, Bluetooth connectivity, reverse camera, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, leather seats, dual front airbags, keyless entry, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and 16-inches alloy wheels. The existing manual version of the SUV is available in three paint options – Silver, White and Black.
Launched in December, 2013, the locally-manufactured MU-7 SUV is available in two variants - BS-3 and BS-4 – which are priced at Rs. 22 lakh and 22.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad). The MU-7 Automatic variant is likely to be one lakh pricier than the regular models. The company is planning to open 60 new dealerships by the end of 2016, and is expecting to sell 5,000 units of the MU-7 SUV per year. Just so you know, Isuzu, currently, has 23 dealerships across 13 states in India.
