Volkswagen India sold 4,018 units in January 2016 as compared to 3,734 units in the corresponding period last year achieving a growth of 8 per cent. While its volumes came from the Polo and Vento, the company ended the year with the launch of the iconic Beetle hatchback.

Commenting on the numbers, Michael Mayer, director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “Starting this year on a positive note, we are very happy to announce an increase in monthly sales for Volkswagen Passenger Cars for January 2016.

We attribute this success to a consistent overall performance of our highly popular carlines, the Polo, Vento and Jetta, supported by an encouraging response to the recently launched 21st century Beetle.

With a pipeline filled with highly anticipated, performance-driven products, we look forward to a successful year ahead.” The German automaker has unveiled its Ameo compact sedan and will launch it for the Indian market later this year.

Volkswagen will showcase it alongside the high performance Polo GTI, Tiguan crossover and the Passat GTE sedan at its stall during the 2016 Auto Expo.
