In August 2015, Renault India market share was at 0.7%.Launched in India back in September 2015, sales of Renault Kwid have been above all expectations. With over 1 lakh bookings done till date, Renault India has now revealed that thanks to their new small car, their market share has jumped to 4.5% since December 2015. This is very good news for the French brand, who aims to capture 5% market share in India by 2017.

This should be easily achievable considering the new car launches they have lined-up for this year. This includes the new Duster SUV with AMT and Kwid 1.0 liter with AMT. Both these cars were showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, which concluded earlier this week in Greater Noida.

With Renault Kwid waiting period on the rise, Renault India has revealed that they will increase production of Kwid to 10,000 units by March 2016, from current 6,000 units. This will not only help them to meet demand in India but will also allow them to export the car to Brazil, where the launch of Kwid is scheduled for later this year.

Renault Kwid will be exported to Brazil in SKD format (Semi Knocked down Units) while it will be assembled at the company plant in Resende, Brazil.

Expansion of networks is also on the cards as Renault India plans to increase dealerships from a current 205 to 240 by the end of this year.
