The authorized KTM service centres can replace your 390’s ordinary clutch with a slipper unit and the installation is pretty much straightforward. The required new components are priced at around INR 9,000 exclusive of taxes and labor charges.

Given the positive effect of the slipper clutch on the overall riding experience, we think the investment is well worth it. However, we are not quite clear about the impact that the modification will have on your motorcycle’s warranty.

Slipper clutch improves the motorcycle’s stability and composure under aggressive downshifting thereby allowing the rider to carry a lot more speed into the corner. The new feature was first introduced in the Duke 390 and was eventually extended to the RC 390. The 2016 model year updates also brought several minor improvement to the table.

The Duke 390 and RC 390 are powered by a 373.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which is known for its explosive performance. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, the power plant has 44 PS and 35 Nm of torque on tap.
