Mahindra Cars and Toyota Kirloskar Motors announced growth to the extent of 11% and 6% respectively during the month of May 2016.Mahindra and Mahindra, leading utility vehicle makers in India have released their sales report for May 2016. During the past month, sales stood at 40,656 units, up 11% as compared to 36,706 units sold in May 2015.

During the past month, sales stood at 40,656 units, up 11% as compared to 36,706 units sold in May 2015.

In the passenger vehicle segment which included cars, vans and utility vehicles, total sales in May 2016 were at 19,635 units, up 8% as compared to 18,135 units sold in May 2015.

Domestic sales during May 2016 increased 10% and stood at 36,613 units as against 33,369 units sold during May 2015 while in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment, the company registered growth of 46% with 501 units sold during the month. Exports of Mahindra and Mahindra increased 21% to 4,043 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors on the other hand registered a 6% growth in domestic sales during May 2016 thanks to increased demand for both Toyota Etios and Liva hatchback.

Toyota domestic sales stood at 12,200 units in May 2016 as against 11,511 units sold in May 2015 while exports in May 2016 declined 31.62% and stood at just 990 units as against 1,448 units exported in May 2015.

New Toyota Innova Crysta has got an amazing response with a total of 20,000 booking received in the past 1 month of launch. This has resulted in a waiting period extending from 2-4 months. Toyota Camry clocked growth of 63% in May 2016 as against sales in May 2015.

The company now awaits a favorable decision on ban on registration of diesel vehicles above 2000cc in NCR. Company sales have been severely affected due to this over the past 6 months.
