In a bid to upgrade its flagship SUV – the Range Rover, Land Rover will be introducing a series of upgrades for its 2017 models which will go on sale later this year in the European markets. The list of changes include optional new drive assistance tech features along with a Jaguar-borrowed 3.0-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine. Not just this, the Tata Motors owned British auto giant will also be introducing a new trim – SVAutobiography Dynamic.

So, what’s in the new trim?

With SVAutobiography variant already up and running, adding a ‘Dynamic’ badge will further complement the dynamic capabilities of the SUV. For better cornering and swift manoeuvrability, changes have been made to the suspension set-up. It now sits 8mm lower than the current variant. On the outside, subtle changes can be seen in this sportier avatar. It adorns new chrome quad tailpipes, red coloured Brembo brakes and customised alloy wheel options.

And, what are these new ‘tech additions’?

The optional ‘Driver Pack’ can now fetch you features such as a driver awareness monitor, traffic sign recognition system, blind spot monitor, reverse traffic detection and an intelligent speed limiter as well. Apart from these assistance features, you also get a new JLR ‘InControl Touch Pro’ infotainment system, the latest to be seen on any JLR offerings.

The addition of a new sporty trim clearly shows Land Rover’s focus on bettering the ride and handling capabilities for its flagship SUV. However, adding sporty-dynamics to its utmost luxurious offering does sound a bit bizarre in real world with the kind of clientele that Range Rover has that includes royal families, businessmen and celebrities worldwide. Now, how many of these top-shots will really drive over hairpins or fast corners to test its ‘sports’ capability? As far as the new tech-additions and the new engine is concerned, it gets a thumbs-up from our end! The SVAutobiography variant is included in Land Rover’s Indian line-up as well, however only time can tell if the 2017 upgrades will get listed on Land Rover’s shipment to India.
