KCR invites Adani to set up power plants in TS

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday invited Gujarat-based Adani group of companies to set up power generation projects in the State.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday invited Gujarat-based Adani group of companies to set up power generation projects in the State.
The Chief Minister made this offer when Goutham Adani, Chairman of the group, called on him and discussed the investment prospects in the new State.
Adani is learnt to have told the Chief Minister that his company would be able to generate 20,000 MW of power by the year 2020 and would be in a position to supply electricity to all the States facing power crisis.
Responding to it, KCR asked the Adani group Chairman to set up a power generation unit in Telangana which was reeling under power shortages. He is said to have told Adani that he would be happy, if the group came forward with a proposal to help the State overcome the power crisis.
The Chief Minister also said that his government was coming out with a new industrial policy to ensure clearance of projects through single window process. He said the government had already identified land for industries. The government would also develop infrastructure to help industrialists in establishing their projects in the Telangana State.
Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister S Narsing Rao were also present at the meeting.
