NTPC opens vendor enlistment.In an effort to broad base its vendor activity and bring uniformity in procurement process across the power plants, the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has established a pan-India web site.
Hyderabad: In an effort to broad base its vendor activity and bring uniformity in procurement process across the power plants, the National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has established a pan-India web site.The web-site, vendor.ntpc.co.in, is exclusively been designed to meet the requirements of the vendors and the contractors, says Regional Executive Director (South), R Venkateswaran. Enlistment process has already started on April 15, he added.

“We want our vendors and contractors from all the locations to enlist in the website and participate in tenders across the power plants,” Venkateswaran told the media here on Friday. This way, the vendors can increase their business opportunities from across the NTPC power plants, he added. As of now, each of the power plants are placing orders to the local vendors for their material and service requirements, which now is broad based benefiting both the suppliers and the NTPC.
According to an estimate, the total value of procurement puts together about Rs 2,000 crore, and another Rs 1,600 crore will be incurred towards contractors’ service charges.The process would benefit the corporation also as the cost of procurement will get to reduced besides a high quality spares and services can be obtained, he pointed out. “There is a chance of cartelization in the present set up, which will be eliminated,” Venkateswaran reveled.The registered vendors will be issued a ‘certificate of enlistment’, which is valid for three years, besides the enlisted vendors can get tender notices from various NTPC power stations.
New initiatives gain speed in TS, AP
The proposed green-field power plants in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as part of the reorganization plan, are progressing as per schedule, according to NTPC’s Regional Executive Director, R Venkateswaran.Speaking to media here on Friday, Venkateswaran said that the Ramagundam expansion of 2x800 MW project is progressing as per schedule, however, it still to get the environment clearance. And for the remaining 2,400 MW capacity plant, the corporation is to get land allotment from government, he clarified.
Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh the corporation is setting up 4,000 MW plant in Pudimadaka village in Visakhapatnam district, where the state government has allotted the land and the EIA (environment impact assessment) study report is expected by June. Venkateswaran said. “We have called of tenders for the plant and in the process of placing orders for main plant,” he said when asked about the progress of the construction of plant. The corporation is also expected to sign a power purchase agreement with the state government (AP), he added.
