Lonely Planet Names America As India\'s Favourite Destination. The USA was named “India’s Favourite Destination” by Lonely Planet Magazine India (LPMI) at the magazine’s fourth annual awards event.

The USA was named “India’s Favourite Destination” by Lonely Planet Magazine India (LPMI) at the magazine’s fourth annual awards event. The awards, presented on 22 June at the JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai Sahar, honored 32 of India’s favorite destinations, hotels, resorts and attractions in India and around the globe. Sartha Global Marketing Managing Director Ms. Sheema Vohra accepted the award on behalf of Brand USA, the destination marketing organization for the USA. Sartha Global Marketing has represented Brand USA’s interests in India since July 2013.


Commenting on the USA’s selection by Lonely Planet Magazine India readers as the favourite destination of Indian travellers, Ms. Vohra said, “We are excited and honored to receive the LPMI 2015 award honoring the USA as India’s Favourite Destination. Lonely Planet Magazine India is one of the best measures of what Indian travellers search for in their travel experiences, and their readers’ acknowledgement of the United States is proof that the USA is one of the world’s most exciting destinations. We welcome more and more Indian travellers to discover the amazing travel experiences in the USA, which range from adventure and sports, stunning national parks, vibrant cities, and a mix of culture, non-stop energy and delectable cuisine that travellers will find nowhere else in the world.”


Invitees for the awards function included leaders of the national travel industry and several international invitees. Nominations for the awards were shortlisted by a panel of judges comprised of travel experts and professionals, and the winners were selected based on votes submitted by LPMI readers.


The panel of judges included LPMI Editor Vardhan Kondvikar; Veena Patil, Managing Director, Veena World; Manu Kashyap, Director, Windmill Holidays; Sucheta Potnis and Hans Tuinman, Founders, Travellers-palm.com; Madhavan Menon, Managing Director, Thomas Cook India Ltd; and Deep Kalra, CEO, Makemytrip.com.
