Hyderabad: Utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra said it registered 11 per cent upswing in sales across two Telugu states so far this fiscal, a growth rate which is much higher than the company’s national growth.

“Our sales in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have grown by 11 per cent so far this fiscal, which is obviously higher than our national growth. In Telangana, our company posted 23 per cent growth till date in the current financial year,” Veejay Ram Nakra, Senior Vice President (Sales & Customer Care), Mahindra, told media at the regional launch of Mahindra Imperio premium pick-up here on Thursday.

All our products including SUVs and small commercial vehicles are well in both the states, he added. United AP was among the top three states in overall sales for Mahindra which now enjoys 50 per cent market share in premium and large pick-up segment in Telangana while it is 55 per cent in the truncated AP.

“We have been growing at 15 per cent in this segment while the industry has posted marginal growth,” Nakra said. On the new pick-up model Mahindra Imperio, he said it would create a new benchmark in the segment, given its SUV-like looks, car-like comforts and superior performance. Powered by a 2.5-litre DI engine, the pick-up is priced from Rs 6.35 lakh to Rs 7.35 lakh (ex showroom, Hyderabad).
