Tirupati: With a view to further intensify the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitation in Tirupati, Gazetted officers of more than 30 departments resolved to organise a massive protest named ‘Samaikya Deeksha’ near Ambedkar statue at RTC central bus stand on Monday. They are hopeful that more than 3,500 GOs, NGOs and government employees will participate in the event and the one-day hunger strike from 9.30 am to 5 pm.
Gazetted officers held a meeting at Tirupati RDO’s office on Saturday morning and discussed about the action plan to put more pressure on elected leaders and the Central government. Speaking to The Hans India, the Tirupati Revenue Divisional Officer, Y Ramachandra Reddy said relay hunger strikes will continue at the same venue from August 3 onwards.
Laksha Samaikya Galam on September 6
The SAPS-JAC has decided to conduct ‘Tirupati Laksha Samaikya Galam’ event on September 6 at Municipal Officer Circle. JAC Convener, Dr. Sudha Rani said that students, youth, employees of all government departments, businessmen, industrialists, women, professionals like advocates, doctors, engineers and others will take part in this event and raise the common slogan, ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’, she said.
The women professors of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam staged a novel protest by performing folk dance wearing black saris at the main entrance of the university. The YSRCP leader, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy held a rally of pigs with placards describing them as elected leaders and demanded all the elected leaders to resign for the cause of Samaikyandhra.
