Actress Anjali goes missing

Hyderabad: Southern actress Anjali of Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu fame has been reported missing from Monday morning, after making sweeping allegations against her step-mother Bharti Devi and director Kalanjiyam.
A case of missing was registered by the Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday on a complaint lodged by her brother Ravi Shankar. He told the police that his sister, who had been staying with their aunt in Chennai, had been missing since 8 am on Monday and expressed fear that there could be a threat to her life from their aunt Bharti Devi and director Kalanjiyam.
The police reportedly spoke to Bharti Devi to know the whereabouts of the actress. Based on her information, a police team went to Daspalla Hotel in Hi-Tec City and enquired with the staff if the actress went there. Further investigation was on, said Inspector Pradeep Kumar Reddy.
It may be recalled Anjali had alleged that Bharti Devi and Kalanjiyam had been harassing her and that the two had robbed her of all her savings. "I've been mentally tortured by my step-mother and director Kalanjiyam. Both pose a threat to my life and I fear staying anywhere close to them. I left Chennai and am presently in Hyderabad," Anjali told reporters on Monday.
After making the allegations, Anjali reportedly went into hiding, following which her brother lodged the complaint on Tuesday. Anjali is known for successful films such as 'Engaeyum Eppothum' ('Journey' in Telugu), 'Kalakalappu' and 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'. She made her debut with Tamil drama 'Sathamindri Muthamidu', which was directed by Kalanjiyam. However, the film never saw the light of day.
