Actress Saritha: My husband Mukesh harrassed me

Senior actress Saritha criticised her husband for getting married without divorce. "My husband Mukesh Madhavan has remarried when I was not in India. How can he get married without giving me a divorce? I was shocked to hear the news," lamented the actress.

Saritha who established herself as a good artiste after her lead role on Marocharithram, performed a number of good roles thereafter. Eventually Saritha turned into a character artiste. She married actor Mukesh Madhavan in 1988. Reports about marital discord was in the news for quite some time.

Although the couple tried to get a divorce on two earlier occasions, it didn't come through. Recalling her earlier days after marriage, Saritha says: "After marriage, Mukesh didn't even allow me to do decent roles. I lost many good opportunities because of that. I would be happy if his attitude was good. Mukesh would misbehave with me. He tortured me both mentally and physically. His irresponsible ways were affecting kids."

When Saritha applied for a divorce in 2007, Mukesh refused to give her the same. Later, Mukesh had agreed for it in 2009 and when the duo applied for divorce, Saritha's husband failed to show up at the court.

"There was no word from him after that. We were leading separate lives. My son Shravan Mukesh is studying medicine in Dubai. So I had gone there. I am not sure what Mukesh inferred. He got married to Devika," she said. Saritha demanded to know how can Mukesh be eligible for another marriage when he has not divorced his first wife.
