Director Chaitanya Dantuluri of Banam movie fame, who was critically acclaimed for his debut movie, is back with a romantic thriller Basanti. Under the banner Start Camera Productions, Chaitanya is also turning producer with this film. Brahmanandam's son Gautham is the lead actor in the movie along with debutante actress Alisha Begum who plays his leading lady. Mani Sharma who scored music for Chaitanya's debut movie Banam has scored the music for this movie too.

Story: Gautham, a student of Basanti Arts College falls head-over-heels in love with Alisha. All Gautam wants is for his love to win. But little does he realise that one incident throws his life into a bedlam. Subsequently, he struggles to get his life back on track. What happens next and how their lives get affected by that one single incident forms the crux of the story. It’s not fair to reveal the entire story. Director Chaitanya after Banam has yet again created another good movie. The plot and narration of the story are excellent. Though the lead role players are not very matured, even then they have strived to deliver their best performance. Gautham expertly portrays the lead character's innocence, angst and determination in the movie. The newbie Alisha also looks promising in the movie. The music of the movie is another beautiful composition from Mani Sharma.
