Looming General Elections-2014 has not only ignited fever in the political circles, but also the ‘Filmi Duniya’. The movies released in the recent times have more or less drawn influence from the politics. Political acquaintance has increased with Madhuri Dixit’s most recent movie - Gulaab Gang due to its release at a fitting time. In a similar vein, Kangana Ranaut’s Revolver Rani, an ironic love story set against a political backdrop will also possibly do the same.
Starring Priyanka Chopra in lead role - a famous film director Madhur Bhandarkar has been working out a film named‘Madamji’. The movie is reportedly based on the life of an item girl-turned-politician.
In the same line, Sonam Kapoor’s movie based on a book ‘Battle for Bittora’ authored by Anuja Chauhan is likely to come on to sets very shortly. The book deals with a love story between two politicians who, despite being in love, are contesting against each other in the elections.
Similar to the above yarn, ‘Mumbai Saga’, the movie in which Anil plays a leading role is purely inspired by politician- Shiv Sena founder, the late Bal Thackeray. Also, Jackky Bhagnani plays a young Prime Minister in Youngistaan is another piece in the same series. Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal, too, is set to play BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, in a biopic.
Drawing inspiration from books and politicians may not work every time as history reveals the fact. Chiranjeevi, who was a most celebrated hero of Tollywood, has turned to be a botched politician as he could not maintain the same hype as it was expected before his actual entry into politics.
