With almost a gap of 11 days before Ram Charan-starrer ‘Govindudu Andarivadele’ hits the screens, Superstar Mahesh Babu-starrer ‘Aagadu’ would be occupying majority of the screens in the two states as it releases this Friday. Set to release in 2,000 screens globally, the lion’s share would be from the two states, according to producers Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta and Anil Sunkara. The trio was speaking at the promotional event of the film in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
“It’s releasing in 110 screens across north India, a first for a Telugu film. We thank our partner Eros International for pulling out all stops to ensure that the film gets a wide release across the country too. It will be releasing with sub-titles in Hindi speaking belts and in Kerala,” says Anil Sunkara of 14 Reels Entertainment, the production outfit that produced the actioner. That’s not it! The film will be opening in the US, where Mahesh commands a great following, on a mammoth note. “It’s releasing in 159 screens across the States. It’s a record release for a Telugu film till date,” Anil smiles proudly.
About the film, they say that it has no similarities with Pawan Kalyan-starrer ‘Gabbar Singh’. Social networking platforms went into a tizzy comparing the film to Pawan’s smash hit immediately after the first teaser of the film was unveiled. “Except that Mahesh plays a cop, it has no connection to ‘Gabbar Singh’”, the trio chorus nonchalantly.
It has all the trappings of a commercial entertainer with loads of comedy and action. Mahesh’s fans will have a feast, they add. “Even the action is dealt in an entertaining way. It’s a film sans twists and turns. Among the supporting characters, both Rajendra Prasad and Brahmanandam will leave their mark.”
Gopi recalled shooting for the film in extreme conditions. “We shot at a factory in Bellary. It was a dusty location but it was a need of the hour for the film. We stayed there for 23 days, shooting a song and an action sequence. It took a toll on everyone. The schedule was followed by an outing in Ladakh where we shot the ‘Bhel Puri’ song; the place barely had oxygen and our crew of 250 members had to shoot under the supervision of a doctor. This was immediately followed by a hot schedule in Mumbai,” he said.
