Big B, Rajini Chiru for Dr Rajkumar memorial launch

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, superstar Rajinikanth and megastar Chiranjeevi will be invited to attend the unveiling ceremony of matinee idol Dr Rajkumar's memorial in Bangalore on November 29 along with other stalwarts of Indian cinema.

Other south superstars Kamal Haasan, Mammotty and Mohanlal and actress B Sarojaa Devi would also be invited, Karnataka Information Minister Roshan Baig told reporters in Bangalore.

Ambareesh will represent Sandalwood. On the same day, all the guests will take part in mega cultural programme scheduled at the Palace Grounds," Baig added.

"The memorial, which is set up on the premises of Kanteerava Studio, has been developed at a cost of Rs seven crore so far," told Dr Rajkumar Pratisthana Member-Secretary Ravi Kumar.

He said work on a 800-seater open-air auditorium, mini water body, landscaping, installation of a three-ft long bronze bust statue of Dr Rajkumar, and an exhibition 40 photographs of select movies of the thespian, had been completed.

Dr Rajkumar Pratisthana, comprising writers, bureaucrats, and members from the actor's family were supervising the progress of the work. The place is now being called 'Rajkumar Punyabhoomi' and has become a tourist destination.

Dr Rajkumar, who died on April 12 2006, was cremated at Kanteerava Studios, Bangalore and the memorial site has been named as 'Rajkumar Punyabhoomi'. He maintained cordial relations with the stars of all south industries till he passed away.
