Nikhil’s ‘Surya vs Surya’, a rom-com

The teaser of Nikhil’s next, ‘Surya vs Surya’, directed by cinematographer Karthik Gattamneni, was unveiled by ace director VV Vinayak at an event in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Praising the trailer, Vinayak, who will be directing Akkineni Akhil’s first film as a hero up next, said the concept of the film looks interesting. “Though the team was working on a tight budget, the film looks rich,” he said. In the film Nikhil plays a student who is affected with porphyria, a condition which bars from one facing the sun light.

Tanikella Bharani, who plays a key role in the film, a rom-com, said that he initially rejected the offer. “When Karthik said he will be shooting the film entirely during night I politely refused, though I loved the script. However, as destiny would have it I decided to be a part of the project after sometime,” he said.

Nikhil said that Vinayak has been supportive of his efforts since long. “I remember meeting him after ‘Veedu Theda’ at his house. He advised me to choose scripts and directors carefully. And I’m following his advice for the past couple of years,” he said.

Newcomer Tridha is paired opposite Nikhil in the film, a production of Malkapuram Shivakumar.
