Chiru in a tight spot. The buzz (and controversies) surrounding Chiranjeevi’s 150th project is intensifying by the day. Though filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, who rushed to Chiru’s house on Saturday evening along with writer BVS Ravi, went on record to claim that the actor has taken a liking to the first half of his script, it seems Chiru has other ideas up his sleeve.

VV Vinayak is likely to pip his counterpart Puri Jagannadh to helm the actor’s landmark 150th flick. However, Chiru, according to sources, is waiting for VV’s consent. The ‘Tagore’ helmer met the actor twice in the last seven days

According to a source, VV Vinayak, with whom the actor’s camp held a meeting last week, is also in the race to direct him. “It’s no secret that Chiru was unhappy with the way Puri was going about his business in the past two weeks. Though he wasn’t in complete favour of Puri going ahead with Nithiin’s project (which ultimately was put on the backburner), as he wanted the director to stay focused on his prestigious film, the storm it created didn’t go well with him.

Moreover, mega fans too were unhappy with Puri announcing project after project, questioning whether he is fully geared up to helm their star’s comeback flick,” says the source. Keeping all these things in mind, Chiru, who doesn’t want to put a foot wrong with the film, had a change of heart on who will lead the technical team, adds the source.

“As of now, Vinayak has emerged as the frontrunner to call the shots. The actor-turned-politician rates him very high since he was a spectator to his hard work on the sets of ‘Tagore’. The director has met the actor earlier this week once again and if he gives a nod, Puri’s chances appear rather blink.”

If indeed Vinayak, said to be a bundle of nerves keeping in mind the humongous expectations surrounding the film, gives his consent, the project’s launch might be deferred to another month instead of August.
