Naga ShauryaActor Naga Shaurya says the only thing that he was apprehensive about in his Friday release ‘Jadoogadu’ was having to film action sequences. “More than performing them, I was scared to think about how the audience would react to them. But director Yogesh who convinced me that it would work,” he says.

The film will see the young actor in a massy avatar for the first time but he says that wasn’t why he signed it. “My decision to do this film was to do with the way my character was etched. Many people questioned whether it was the right move so early in my career. But as an artiste, I believe in experimenting,” shares Shaurya.

He adds, “Any artiste does a film only if he/she feels it will work. If we know how the audience will react to a film, the success rates of films wouldn’t be so less.” The actor, who hadn’t danced a great deal till now, had to put on his dancing shoes for the film. Talking about the experience, he shares, “I can’t dance at all! But choreographers Sekhar and Raghu brought out the best in me. Even I was amazed to see the way I danced.”

When quizzed if he is taking a risk working with director Yogesh whose last release ‘Chintakayala Ravi’ was an average grosser, Shaurya replied wittily, “There’s a saying in Telugu, ‘Simham venakadugu vesindi ante dookadanike’ (if the lion takes a step backwards, it is only for pouncing ahead). So it’s more about what he did with this film than what happened before.”
