Mishti ChakrabortyDespite the box office turkey that ‘Chinnadana Nee Kosam’, her maiden Telugu film, was, actress Mishti Chakraborty is on a roll. Currently a part of Sumanth Ashwin-starrer ‘Columbus’, the actress has also signed Indra Kumar’s ‘Grand Masti’, the third instalment in the adult comedy franchise.

“I was shooting for ‘Columbus’ when I was offered ‘Grand Masti’. I had to attend the shoot straightaway. I didn’t have the time to go through the narration completely,” she smiles, adding, “I heard the script over phone. It’s more on the lines of ‘Masti’ and is less on double-meaning innuendos.”

She continues, “After Subhash Ghai ji collaborating with Indra Kumar is a great opportunity as far as my career is concerned.” Shifting focus to ‘Columbus’, she says it’s a youth-centric film. “It is young, energetic, romantic and fun-filled film with an underlying message.”

The actress plays a modern girl in the film. “The character has various shades and spans from teenage to young age. She is little dominating, practical, understands life and dreams big.” The film also features Seerat Kapoor as another lead actress but Mishti had no apprehensions giving her consent to the project.

“I mean why should I be apprehensive? I don’t think any actor should have such complexes; they will hold you back and hamper your growth. The script dictates everything and over here the script had scope for two leading ladies. My character was strong, so I didn’t have any problems with the presence of other girl,” she exults, adding, “In fact Seerat and I shot for a lot of scenes together.”

Into her second year in the Telugu industry, the Bengali girl is happy with the way Telugu audience have accepted her. “The industry has treated me very well. The love that fans have towards movies and stars is overwhelming. I’m proud to be a part of the industry. Hyderabad is now my second home.”

Ask her what did she made of Hyderabadi biriyani, she quips, “I found it little spicy; I’m not really into spicy stuff. I eat very simple food but I did savour haleem and city’s sweet delicacies.”
