The soundtrack launch of ‘Akhil’, which marks the full-fledged acting debut of superstar Nagarjuna’s second son Akhil, was a grand affair with the Akkineni family and the cast and crew of the actioner in attendance. The event took place at a sports stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday evening. Superstar Mahesh Babu, a recluse, too made head turns as he dropped by the event to unveil the theatrical trailer of the film.

Amidst deafening applause from the turnout, he conveyed his wishes to Akhil, the cynosure of all the eyes at the event, before leaving the venue. Akhil, who was welcomed with a loud cheer as he walked onto the stage to speak, thanked Mahesh for the gesture. “Actually I called him for a byte (for promotions) but he said he will come to the launch. I’d like to thank him for encouraging a newcomer like me,” said Akhil, who looked dapper in a black leather jacket and denim jeans. Heaping high praise on the film’s director VV Vinayak, he said, “He is the gold of the industry.

I doubt if other directors would treat me the same way as he did. I was his son, brother and friend. He never made me feel nervous on the sets. In fact, he was ready to call pack-up if I was looking nervous. He is committed to do another film with me.” Talking about the film’s producer Nithiin, he said, “He pushed me to do this film with VV Vinayak. He told me, ‘Give Akkineni fans a blockbuster.

’ He is my brother and best friend.” Stating it was his dream that his mother, father and (elder) brother unveil his first film’s audio, he further appreciated the efforts of choreographers Johnny, Raghu, Shekar, composers Anoop Rubens and Thaman, stunt master Ravi Varma and cinematographer Amol Rathod in shaping the film that ‘Akhil’ is.

The event was also graced by Nagarjuna’s friends and business partners like Nimmagadda Prasad, Chamundeshwarnath, Mahesh Reddy and Prasad V Potluri. Other eminent faces from the industry like KL Narayana, Bandla Ganesh, Koratala Siva and C Kalyan too were spotted at the do.
