Charan is a sweet co-star: Kriti. A Delhi native, she is one of the most sought after actresses in Kannada, but that didn’t deter Kriti Kharbanda to play a sibling to Ram Charan in the film, which is pretty unthinkable for a leading lady at the prime of her career.

Kriti KharbandaKriti Kharbanda, who’ll be seen in an important role in Ram Charan’s forthcoming film ‘Bruce Lee’, talks about her role, bonding with the actor and the ‘yummy’ haleem

A Delhi native, she is one of the most sought after actresses in Kannada, but that didn’t deter Kriti Kharbanda to play a sibling to Ram Charan in the film, which is pretty unthinkable for a leading lady at the prime of her career. “When I signed as Ram Charan’s sister, my well-wishers were worried about playing a sister’s role to a prominent actor. But I went by my gut feelings and my reasons are very clear,” explains the actress.

She elaborates saying, “to me, it’s a great opportunity to work with Charan and Sreenu Vaitla, besides the big banner and ensemble cast was a huge temptation.” Describing the role, she points out, “Not only was my role well written, the film has a wonderful script too. In a way, the film revolves around the brother-sister bondage, which to me is the clincher. I'm sure the audience will appreciate it.”

Prod Kriti on the experience of working with Charan, she says, “Working for the film has been enriching in itself. I bonded big time with Charan and everyone else. Charan is a sweet co-star and one of the smartest chaps around. He knows how to extract what he wants without the individual being aware of obliging with information (smiles). He made me reveal so many things unknowingly.”

A memorable experience during the shooting was the ‘opportunity to get introduced to the yummy haleem,’ a delicacy that had bowled over millions of non-Hyderabadis. “Imagine me, a confirmed foodie, was not aware of the taste of haleem, which I could partake because of Charan. It was the period of Ramadan and my shooting location was in the Old City.

One day Charan dropped by and said a Ramzan season minus biryani was a bland experience. The biriyani he sent me was among the best I have ever eaten. It was the first time I tasted haleem, which was sent along with the main course. Boy, together with mirchi ka salan and later Khurbani Ka Meetha, it tasted yummy,” recalls Kriti, who takes to coking as a stress-buster.

“I de-stress myself by cooking. I enjoy cooking for my parents and grandparents. In terms of fashion, I’m obsessed about footwear (I have a big collection) and lip- colors that cater to the occasion,” says Kriti Kharbanda, who is waiting breadth for October 16 when the action drama will hit the screens.
