Akkineni Akhil’s debut movie Akhil, the power of jua hit theatres today amid big expectations. Let's take a look at how the movie has shaped up.
Story:
Akhil (Akhil Akkineni), a Hyderabadi guy, falls in love with a medical student Divya (Sayesha Saigal). He tries his best to impress Divya, but she ends up going to Europe. While the story goes like this, she suddenly gets kidnapped by some African nationals. In search of Divya, Akhil also go to Africa.
Why are the villains looking for Power of Jua? How will Akhil save Divya? What is the connection between Akhil and Jua? Why villains search for Jua? To find out reasons to all these questions, watch the movie.
Performances:
As a debutant, Akhil is very impressive and is very good at dance moves. He pulls off some difficult stunts with ease. It can be clearly seen in the film how Akhil has put in a sincere effort to make his screen presence more significant. If he works on his expressions, he can surely give other heroes a tough competition.
Newbee Sayesha Saigal is a visual feast and she has delivered very well in most of the scenes. She tries to complement Akhil in all scenes even in the dances.
Jayaprakash Reddy, Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore manage to evoke few smiles. Mahesh Manjrekar and Rajendra Prasad are their usual self.
Technicalities:
SS Thaman, Anup Rubens music is just ok, but Mani Sharma's back ground score is good. Graphic works are very poor and spoil the mood of the audience. Gautam Raju's editing is ok. Production values are good and locations in the second half have been shot very well.
Director VV Vinayak has failed miserably to keep the audience glued to the seats. He disappoints this time by not giving a hit film for Akhil. Despite dare devil fights and Akhils's dance moves, the movie fails to impress the audience due to its weak content. On a whole, Akhil is not an impressive launch for this Akhil.
Rating: 2.5
Verdict: just Akhil, not the story or direction
