Acting is his passion and probably something for which he was destined. A known face in the theatre circle, the cute-faced Amol Parashar has got the looks and charm to woo his fans and acting skills with which he has impressed the critics. After making a mark with his performances in movies like ‘Rocket Singh’, ‘Babloo Happy Hai’ and the recent Hindi remake of Malayalam film ‘Traffic’, Amol debuted in webseries with The Viral Fever’s (TVF) ‘Tripling’ recently.
Starring alongside Permanent Roommates’ fame, Sumeet Vyas and Pitchers’ fame, Maanvi Gagroo, Amol plays the role of Chitvan Sharma, the youngest of the sibling trio. The series is a tale loaded with emotions that highlight the enduring relationship between siblings. In ‘Tripling’, the trio sets off on an unforgettable road trip to meet their parents. The mayhem that ensues makes it a trip worth taking.
Dishevelled hair, headphones around his neck and adorned in boho-chic casual wear, Amol portrays the chilled out Chitvan. “He is least bothered about things that his brother and sister consider to be big issues. He is a drifter but music and his car are two things to which he is attached,” shares the actor about his character.
Interestingly, Amol is a car-aficionado himself and loves to drive. “That’s true. I can practically live and die on the driving wheel,” he agrees. So, how similar are Amol and Chitvan? “There are some things common among us. Like, I share a sense of spontaneity and impulsiveness that he has especially when it comes to travel. A certain “que sera sera” style of living to which I totally connect,” says Amol.
“What I don't share with him is his tangential nature, when he is on a different world during a conversation. He is either mostly misinterpreting or not following the other person's chain of thought, which I believe is not that a much a problem with me in life,” he adds.
The young actor has been in the industry for quite a while now, with his debut performance in ‘Rocket Singh’, which released in 2009, in which he played Sai Shekhar, Ranbir Kapoor’s best friend. Although, not a trained actor; Amol prefers real-time training and says, “My work on stage is my training. I learned from practically applying my craft… learning from experiences and from the people around me. An actor's training never stops. He learns a little every day.”
There is a positive energy that Amol resonates and a boyish charm, which seem to be working in his way. What stand out most about him is that he is not afraid to follow his dreams. After completing his Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi, he took up a job, which he later quit to plunge into acting. “The risk of quitting my stable job was much less than that of not actually pursuing this passion for acting,” he shares.
Whether it is acting alongside a senior cast in ‘Traffic’ or a newcomer film like ‘Babloo Happy Hai’. Amol's performance has been strongly appreciated. So, does he prefer films or web series? “Well, this is my first series so I can't really make a choice.
One thing is that web series has more focus on the actors and their performances because that is the only thing that is holding the audience's attention. In a film, you have music and grandeur and a bigger canvas to accentuate. I find both the media exciting and hopefully will be doing a lot of both in the future,” shares Amol.
