Reinforcing ban on sex determination

eBay India along with Band SANAM launched its campaign #NoWorldWithoutGirls online recently. The initiative reinforces prohibition of sex determination kits and addresses a social evil that is prevalent across the Indian society towards acceptance of a girl child.

In this regard, SANAM comprising of SanamPuri (Lead Vocals), Samar Puri (Lead Guitar), Venky S (Bass Guitar), Keshav Dhanraj (Drums) released a music video set against a backdrop, which highlights the harshest judgement faced by a daughter even before she is born.

Commenting on the launch, Shivani Suri, Director Marketing, eBay India, said, “At eBay India, it’s been our continuous endeavour to inspire consumers to shop for their favourite things from our widest range of products without any inhibitions or fear of societal judgements.

But we stand against the one thing that judges a girl even before she is born, by prohibiting availability of sex determination kits on our site. Through the campaign #NoWorldWithoutGirls and our association with immensely popular and gifted talent such as Band SANAM we aim to drive awareness for this cause amongst the youth in the language (music) they understand best.”

Band SANAM said, “Music is an extremely powerful medium to send across a message and we believe that our latest attempt will strike the right chord with our loyal fan base. Our choice of song which is the title track from the popular movie Lakshaya, truly embodies the music video for the campaign #NoWorldWithoutGirls.”The campaign is an extension of eBay’s earlier campaign #ThingsDontJudge.
