Three Army jawans were arrested by the Tukaram Gate Police for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl at Mahindra Hills on Sunday night. The police sent the girl to Gandhi Hospital for medical examination and booked a case against the accused. According to police, a 17-year-old girl and her friend Kishore, both residents of Teacher’s Colony, who visited Saibaba Temple in Mahindra Hills, were accosted by three Jawans finding that the surroundings were devoid of crowd.
They beat up Kishore for coming in their way and started misbehaving with the girl. As they tried to drag the girl into the woods nearby, the boy reached out to his friends for help, who in turn informed the police. Inspector Sudarshan Reddy of Tukaram Gate police station said the culprits set the girl free at the sight of some motor vehicle coming in the way and tried to escape.
