Hyderabad: A gang of four armed dacoits forced their entry into a house at Raghavendra Nagar Colony in Peddamberpet area on Tuesday night and decamped with Rs 1.4 lakh in cash, four tolas of gold besides four cell phones.

Armed with iron rods, sticks and knives, the gang barged into the house of P Narasimha, 39, by breaking open the main door.

They took his wife and other family members hostage and threatened to kill them if they dared to raise alarm. According to Hayathnagar police, the gang threatened Narasimha and his family members to part with the cash and gold ornaments kept in the almirah. Rao, who resisted initially, gave in to their demand and handed over the valuables and cash when the dacoits threatened to kill them.

“Based on a complaint lodged by Narasimha, a case of robbery (Section 394) was lodged at the Hayathnagar police station against the culprits. Efforts are being made to nab them, who are still at large,” the cops said.
