Nellore: 440 Bottles of Liquor Seized. The Excise Department officials have seized as many as 440 bottles of liquor near Kandaleru in Nellore district, on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: The Excise Department officials have seized as many as 440 bottles of liquor near Kandaleru in Nellore district, on Tuesday. Going on with the painstaking checking in view of the looming elections, the Excise Officials early on Tuesday in the headship of Shiva Kumari, the Circle Inspector of Excise Department, have carried out thorough checking in Nellore district. They found as many as 440 bottles of liquor being conveyed, illegally. The same has been seized by them apart from seizing a two wheeler. It is learnt that the liquor was taken from Ravuru to Eturu in Atmakur constituency. More details are awaited.
It is worth mentioning here that a huge sum of Rs.140 cr in unaccounted cash has been seized during the ongoing assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh so far, according to the sources. The state accounts for more than half share in the Rs.272cr seized across the country. Apart from this, the police have also seized five lakh litres of liquor till last Saturday.
Banawar Lal, the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner, at a previous instance said that a huge currency, liquor, gold and silver have been seized in view of the elections. He ordered the concerned authorities to intensify their checking as there was a possibility that more methods of transportation of money, liquor and gold will be opted in view of the Wednesday elections in Seemandhra.
