Two held for minor’s rape & murder

Narsaraopet (Guntur): Two persons on Thursday were arrested in the sensational kidnap, rape and murder case of a minor girl, Tirupatamma of Rajaka Colony, Vinukonda. The minor girl was found dead on June 14. Police said on Thursday that property was the motive behind the murder. Top brass took interest in the case after it attracted the attention of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

According to police, the victim was kidnapped on June 12 by her father’s relative, Venkateswarlu, on a bike. His relative Yellamanda was involved in the crime, the investigation revealed. They registered a case under the Nirbhaya Act.

Her body was found two days later at Nakkavagu near Kamanarlapudi in Syamalapuram mandal. Initially, police had treated the case as unidentified. Her parents identified the body, after being taken to the spot. The post-mortem report revealed that the victim was brutally raped and killed. Her parents had suspected Venkateswarlu in their complaint. But police did not take it seriously. Later they took him into custody. He had been eyeing the property worth Rs.8 lakh of Tirupatamma’s mother Lingamma, after concluding that he would get it in the girl’s absence.
