3 arrested for murder, robbery

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths of Rajendranagar and Malkajgiri arrested a notorious murderer and a robbery gang on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Vorsu Venkataiah, 40, a resident of Rajendranagar, Dhandugula Thimmappa, 52 and Dhandugula Shivam, 35, both native of Mahabubnagar district.

During interrogation, the gang confessed to have murdered one Nagamma, 30, a labourer of Upperpally area in May. Police said Venkataiah along with another accomplice Parvathamma also committed two robbery cases under Rajendranagar and Mailardevpally police limits in the past. Thimmappa and Shivan, who were brought to Malkajgiri, confessed to have committed crime under RGIA police station.

"The modus operandi of the accused is to visit toddy shops regularly and target jewellery wearing women at Shamshabad and Hyderguda and other toddy compounds. The accused would promise work to the victims and after convincing them, they would take them away to lonely places and rob them of gold and silver ornaments. If the victims put up resistance, the culprits beat them with sticks and kill them by boulders. The culprits would mercilessly cut the feet of the victims if they found it difficult to remove anklets of the victims,” DCP (Crimes) G Janaki Sharmila said.
