Man kills daughter over inter-caste marriage, A farmer of Ganugubanda in Thungaturthi mandal in Nalgonda district, Bayya Lingamallu, axed to death his daughter Swapna (19), an Intermediate student of the Government Junior College here, for marrying an auto driver of the same village, who belongs to another caste.
Tungaturthi: A farmer of Ganugubanda in Thungaturthi mandal in Nalgonda district, Bayya Lingamallu, axed to death his daughter Swapna (19), an Intermediate student of the Government Junior College here, for marrying an auto driver of the same village, who belongs to another caste. The brutal killing shocked the village. It is learnt that the victim belonged to the Yadava community. The lovers got married at Bhadrachalam three weeks ago and returned to the village last week.
Lingamallu, his wife Rukkamma and his mother visited the victim’s house around 3 pm. They allegedly dragged her out, as she refused to accompany them for the Rakhi festival. Angered by her action, her father attacked her with an axe and hit her on the head. She died instantly. The three elders managed to escape. A case of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. DSP Shravan Kumar termed it a case of honour killing.
