Hyderabad: A day after a woman was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by five persons in Narapally under Medipally police station limits, police arrested four persons on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place on the intervening night of August 25 and 26 in Narapally area when the 21-year-old victim was going to Bhongir from Uppal with her husband and brother-in-law.

The accused identified as Immu alias Akram, Abbas, Juber, Shahnawaz and Ravi forcibly stopped the vehicle in which the victim and her family members were travelling and asked the trio to board another vehicle. The victim was then taken to the nearby bushes in Saptagiri Layout in Narapally area and was sexually assaulted by the five men, while her husband and brother-in-law were beaten and detained, the police said, adding the accused threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm and made away with Rs 3,000 and cell phones from them.

The victim, who got married three months ago, was brought to the city by a labour contractor, Srinivas, along with her husband, brother-in-law and four others the previous day. They were accommodated in a house at Uppal, police added. Acting on a tip-off, the police apprehended Immu, Abbas, Juber and Shahnawaz near Uppal bus stop on Wednesday around 1.30 pm. “A case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 D and 384 of the IPC, Section 3(1) (xii) of SC/ST (POA) Act 1989
