Jahnavi Hyderabad: A four-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by two unidentified women in broad day light from Kushaiguda area on Wednesday.

Kushaiguda police said Jahnavi alias Hani, a UKG student and resident of Hanuman Nagar, along with her cousin, Priya,9, were on their way to their father's shop when they were abducted around 11.30 am. Later, the abductors freed Priya. As Priya's earrings and gold pendant were intact, robbery did not seem to be the motive, the police said.

On learning about the incident, the girl's father, Balakrishna Reddy, a wholesale coconut dealer, mother and relatives searched the area and surrounding localities. They later lodged a complaint with the Kushaiguda police. Family members assembled at the police station agitating over the abduction of the girl and urging the police to act seriously. Police said the women had befriended the girls by introducing themselves as relatives. They forcibly took them to Jammigadda where they set free Priya and took Jahnavi along with them.

“We did not rule out any family feud, previous enmity behind the abduction while Jahnavi's parents suspect foul play. There was no ransom demand till late night,” Kushaiguda CI, N Venkata Ramana said adding that a special team has been formed to trace the abductors.

Based on a complaint, a case under Section 363(Kidnapping) of the IPC has been registered. The women have not yet been traced, the CI said.
