Hyderabad: The Narsingi police on Tuesday took 30 youngsters, mostly college students and young professionals, into custody for rash driving and performing bike stunts on Gandipet Road. The cops also seized 21 bikes.
The youngsters were riding dangerously and doing stunts around 6 pm on the Gandipet stretch, said Narsingi police officials. “There were underage riders also. The detained bikers are between 15 and 27 years old,” said Narsingi sub-inspector B Sakram.
A case under section 279 of the IPC for rash and negligent driving has been registered by the Narsingi police. The races happen mainly during weekends. The racers indulge in various styles like wheeling and zig-zag riding. They often place bets on the outcomes of the races, the SI said adding that in the past similar cases had been booked and students along with their parents were counselled.
