Hyderabad: Recently South Zone senior police officials started an enquiry against the incident where 13 year old boy chained in Chandrayangutta police station.

On the other hand, Child right activists are demanding for the justice. They are saying that minors should not be brought to the police station and that chaining him is an absolute crime.

“If a minor commits an offence and is caught, the cops should approach him in plain clothes and take him to the juvenile office. The minor should never be taken to police station. The act of the Chandrayangutta police is a serious child rights’ violation,” said a child right activist.

According to South Zone DCP V. Satyanarayana, “An ACP level officer has already started a probe into the issue. The report will be submitted in a few hours. An action will be initiated as per the report.”

Going in to the details, the Police are saying that the boy stole a mobile phone from a woman in the neighborhood and that he was handed over to the police station by the neighbors after finding the mobile in his possession.

Adding to that, some sources from Chandrayangutta said that the boy was found possessing a stolen high-end mobile phone and they brought him to the police station for interrogation. However, the boy told the police that he had not stolen the phone and someone from his locality had given it to him a few days ago.

“He said his acquaintance had given him the phone. Police detained him to get the details of the original thief,” sources said.
