Srinagar: A village head man (Sarpanch) was reportedly shotdead by unknown gun men in Sopore town on Saturday just hours after polling began for the fifth and last phase of Jammu and Kashmir elections.
The victim was identified as Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, associated with Congrees, who was shot at his native village Bomai, Sopore this morning.
It is said Bhat was helping and campaigning for an independent candidate Irshad. Police said Bhat died on his way to hospital in Srinagar.
