Police crack murder mystery
Police have finally cracked the mystery behind the murder of one Karre Lakshmi (40), a resident of Mancherial town, who was murdered in January. Lakshmi’s burnt body was found on the outskirts of Kalleda village of Jagtial mandal in the district on January 17. After strangulating her to death, the accused doused her body with kerosene and set it on fire.
Jagtial (Karimnagar): Police have finally cracked the mystery behind the murder of one Karre Lakshmi (40), a resident of Mancherial town, who was murdered in January. Lakshmi’s burnt body was found on the outskirts of Kalleda village of Jagtial mandal in the district on January 17. After strangulating her to death, the accused doused her body with kerosene and set it on fire.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Jagtial DSP Rajendra Prasad said Lakshmi, who used to live in Gautaminagar in Mancherial town, got separated from her husband and was living with her parents and brothers. Meanwhile, she developed illicit relationship with a local youth A Srinivas four years ago and started pestering him to marry her, he said.
However, Srinivas told her that as both of them belonged to different castes and also due to the fact that she was already married, his family members would not agree for their marriage. When she threatened him that she would tell his family about their affair and ruin his marriage proposals with others, Srinivas developed cold feet and decided to kill her.
Srinivas along with his friend O Mahender persuaded Lakshmi to accompany them to the Rajarajeshwara Temple in Vemulawada to get married. Believing them, she agreed. On their way, Srinivas and his accomplice Mahender stopped on the outskirts of Kalleda village in Jagtial mandal, strangulated Lakshmi to death, poured kerosene on her body and set it blaze so that nobody would be able to identify it.
They robbed her of her gold ornaments and fled the scene. Lakshmi’s brothers filed a missing case in the police station at Mancherial. The police took up investigation in right earnest and after getting hold of the clothes of the deceased at the spot of the murder, they were able to make a breakthrough in the murder mystery.
