Differently abled threatens suicide
A differently abled person, Kumar (30), climbed a cell tower near the agricultural godown here on Friday and warned that he would jump from it for denying pension to him.
Nagarkurnool (Mahabubnagar): A differently abled person, Kumar (30), climbed a cell tower near the agricultural godown here on Friday and warned that he would jump from it for denying pension to him. Polio-affected Kumar has been meeting officials and political leaders for the past eight months as he was not getting pension.
Kumar, who was in depression, felt that he would not get pension at all. He consumed liquor and climbed a cell tower in order to commit suicide. A tense situation prevailed for some time when he threatened to jump from it. Kumar said that he used to get pension during the Congress rule led by former Chief Minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
He expressed anguish that officials are denying pension to him now. Several people gathered near the tower to see Kumar. After much persuasion, he climbed down from the cell tower with the help of two persons. Police took Kumar to police station and let him off after conducting counseling to him.
