Hyderabad: The mysterious death of 36-year-old Karnataka IAS Officer D K Ravi has a Telugu link to it. A Telugu girl is in the eye of this storm, presently bringing Karnataka to the boil. ‘Truth Shall Prevail’ is the latest Facebook status of this Telugu woman IAS officer, who is being linked to the mysterious death of Ravi in Bangalore.
As Karnataka is getting ready to release on Monday a preliminary report on the findings of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe into the mysterious death, The Hans India learnt that the woman IAS officer in question is a Telugu from Andhra Pradesh, who have completed her B Tech in Chemical Engineering from Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women in Hyderabad. Ravi and the woman IAS officer were among the toppers in the 2009 batch of Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
She opted for Karnataka cadre though she belongs to Andhra Pradesh and was incidentally posted first in DK Ravi’s home district of Tumkuru. The woman IAS officer is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat in Karnataka. She had earlier served as Assistant Commissioner of Tumkuru in 2011 and Commissioner of Tumkuru Urban Development Authority in 2012.
According to various press reports in Bangalore, Ravi had purportedly called the woman IAS officer 44 times in the span of an hour on the day of his ‘suicide’. This interaction between Ravi and her, who is married and posted in southern Karnataka, and their final conversations are a central part of the probe by the CID of the Karnataka police. The woman IAS officer has been approached by the police as part of the probe.
According to other reports, she met the Chief Secretary of Karnataka, after she learnt of Ravi’s death and explained to him her version in the light of reports that she was romantically linked with him. She, according to the reports, gave call details, text messages and emails sent to her by Ravi before his death. Some reports also claim that she had approached an advisor to the AP government for help in this regard couple of months ago.
