The Nalgonda district of Telangana has earned the reputation of being the terrorist breeding ground from where hard core ISI aagents and SIMI operatives have emerged and functioning. Police intelligence show that the former head of SIMI, Salauddin Ahmed hailed from the district.

Police say that some of terrorists arrested in Delhi, Mumbai, Nanded, Bhopal and Bengaluru all belonged to Nalgonda. Asgar Ali, involved in killing of Gujarat former Home Minister Hiren Pandya also hailed from Nalgonda district. Nalgonda residents were involved in most of the bombing operations in Ujjain and also Hyderabad.
Another Terrorist Shamshuddin also from the same district has been operating from Dubai now. Police say that terrorist movement has been recorded on Vijayawada- Hyderabad highway regularly. Suryapet, Jajireddigudem, Nagaram ,Arvapalli, Kodad, and up to Eluru has been very high on terrorist circuit.
The Police has been monitoring the movements of terrorists in all these areas, and kept CCTV recordings of the movements whenever the operatives visited their families for events. So the national highway 65 is now seen as the highway of terrorism. Particularly after the recent encounter at Suryapet , the police are firm that there was need for a larger security zone in theregion.
