Case registered against film producer Kalyan

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday registered a case against Tollywood film producer C Kalyan for allegedly assaulting and intending to outrage the modesty of a woman doctor. The producer who lives in an apartment on Jubilee Hills Road No 5, had an altercation with Kavitha, resident of the same apartment, following a dispute over distribution of compensation on Monday evening.
A compensation of Rs 1.4 crore was paid after the apartment got damaged due to Metro Rail construction work. It is learnt that the producer opened a separate bank account and allegedly swindled the compensation amount, to which the rest of the flat owners objected and raised a great hue and cry.
“The woman in her complaint stated that Kalyan threatened to kidnap her and misbehaved with her during an argument that ensued during a meeting of the flat owners in the apartment,” inspector S Venkat Reddy said. Based on a complaint lodged by the doctor, the police registered a case under Section 354 (A), 506 and 509 of the IPC against Kalyan. “We are verifying the allegations raised by the complainant. No arrests have been made so far,” Reddy said.
