Senior citizen killed in road accident
In a fatal mishap, a sixty-year-old retired employee died on the spot while the pillion rider received severe injuries when the scooter they were going, was knocked down by a speeding van under Uppal police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The victim was identified as Y Krishna Reddy, a resident of Mallikarjuna Nagar, Alkapuri in Nagole.

The victim was identified as Y Krishna Reddy, a resident of Mallikarjuna Nagar, Alkapuri in Nagole.
Police said the incident occurred around 1.30 pm near Little Flower Junior College when the DCM van (TS 08 UB 0279) knocked the scooter (AP 28 J 8833) from the rear side. Police said, the driver of the van drove in a rash and negligent manner and rammed the scooter from behind.
Due to the impact, Krishna and his granddaughter fell to the ground. While the girl fell on the safer side of the road, Krishna sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. A case has been registered against the driver of the van under Section 304 A (death caused due to negligence) of the IPC.
