32 cases against seeds dealers
Putting a curb on unauthorised sale and storage of seeds and non-maintenance of records, the officials of Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) conducted surprise raids at various districts of Telangana State on Thursday. During the raids, stock worth Rs 16.64 crore was seized from 81 seed processing plants and seed dealers.
Hyderabad: Putting a curb on unauthorised sale and storage of seeds and non-maintenance of records, the officials of Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) conducted surprise raids at various districts of Telangana State on Thursday. During the raids, stock worth Rs 16.64 crore was seized from 81 seed processing plants and seed dealers.
As many as 32 cases have been booked under 6 (A) of EC Act 1955 and Seed Act 1966 and one criminal case has been filed under IPC section. A special drive which was conducted to inspect illegal transportation of seeds, unauthorised storage and non-maintenance of records by V&E, many irregularities were found such as unauthorised sale and storage of seeds, non-maintenance of records and stock variation and violations of provisions of Seed Act.
The sleuths inspected 81 seed processing plants and seed dealers’ outlets in Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar districts. “Instructions have been issued to draw samples and dispatch to laboratory for purify testing,” DG (V&E), TP Das said.
