A 38 year old man was allegedly killed by his cousin who is a temple priest and the body was hidden for more than a year in a septic tank on the temple premises at Kanapur.

The temple priest, Pavan Joshi killed his cousin Mohan Vyas by attacking him with a hammer on the head in March 2014 and later dumped his body in the septic tank. The victim’s mother had filed a complaint after which the Narsingi police investigated the case and found Mohan’s body. Pavan after his arrest confessed to killing Mohan as the latter had been pestering for money and hid the incident from the family.

Inspector R. Ramachandra Rao said that Mohan succumbed to death after he was hit by Pavan on his head with a hammer and with the construction works taking place in the septic tank, the body was hidden. The inspector also said that the two aides who finished the work on the tank knew about the body but hid the information.

Elaborating further on the murder, the inspector informed that Mohan who lived with Pavan was addicted to alcohol which is why he used to ask for money after getting drunk and that led to the murder.

Mohan’s mother Lakshmi Vyas didn’t search for him as he never used to come home regularly. However, she lodged a missing complaint later. The police finally recovered the body from the septic tank. A case has been booked against Pavan for concealing evidence and murder.
